My Relationship Status is Newsworthy!!

OMG!

I am on News 12 New York in a piece about businesses with gay employees that offer health insurance. Re/Dress was selected and as an employee who is gay and has health insurance, the newscaster asked me "Will you and your partner be getting married?" And I said "I want News 12 viewers to know I am single."

Anyway, they said in the report, "Bevin Branlandingham, who is single, doesn't want to get married for insurance." And then I talk about how getting divorced is expensive so you shouldn't get married for health insurance.

Video Post: Lesbolesque!

Darlings, if one were to name this period in my artist's incubation (and I do feel as though this gorgeous queer Brooklyn artist community I live in is an incubator of sorts), I think this is the "Throw some glitter, make it rain" period. Thanks Ke$ha for that choice lyric. Also why are Ke$ha's songs so embarrassing? I feel a secret shame for enjoying them.

A couple of weeks ago, in the span of two days, I performed two acts that incorporated glitter rain. They were quite spectacular, actually. Glitter rain really does add that certain something that just reading a piece to an audience or just taking off your clothes to classic lesbian hits misses.

Anyway, I've been talking about my Lesbolesque act here on the blog for the last year or so, I thought I would get up a video of it. This is from the anniversary Rebel Cupcake party.

Marooned in San Francisco and New Episode of the Lesbian Tea Basket

Just a blog housekeeping note: for some reason the bandwidth on Queer Fat Femme.com went bananas the other day and I exceeded the meager bandwidth I pay for (maybe it's time I sold advertising?) so for a couple of days there was a blank screen where there once were pithy anecdotes and queer magic fun times. I make it up to you now with this...

New episode of the Lesbian Tea Basket! Check it out, featuring Alix and Jen Gandy, discussion of Maple Chasing and, you know, tea for lesbians.

Blog Contest: Lesbian Love Jams

The latest episode of the Lesbian Tea Basket is a pretty rare event caught on film. My friend Elisabeth did not set out to do this but I believe she out gayed me for approximately 7 minutes. Not that being gay is a contest, since being gay is truly the greatest team sport of them all. However, I am told by many people quite often that I am the gayest person they know and I cannot wait to show them how Elisabeth is even gayer.

Lesbian Tea Basket

While I cast about looking for someone to collaborate on the sound editing for FemmeCast, I've been a little antsy to make media. I was struck with the divine spirit to share my recent passion for tea and my enduring passion for lesbianism in the form of totally DIY, low-tech videos. Mostly I am just frustrated with how hard it is to determine whether or not tea is any good from the box.

There are four episodes so far, with more to come as inspiration continues. I've instituted a rating system and occasionally have guest hosts.

So grab a cup of tea, cozy up to your computer and enjoy!

FemmeCast Video Podcast Episode 2: Heather MacAllister’s Embodying Fat Liberation

I really hope you'll pull up a cupcake and cozy in for 13 minutes. Heather's piece is very accessible, chronicles the history of the Fat Bottom Revue (the fat burlesque troupe she founded) and also speaks to the need to use the body in order to work against fat oppression.

"We will never have our freedom if we only live from the neck up, yet that is the way that many fat people live, even, or especially, the fat activists and academics among us... The oppression of anti-fat hatred is sited on the body, and it is in the body that these wounds can be healed." --Heather MacAllister

FemmeCast Video Blog #1: Activist Stretches

During the last terrible no good very bad Mercury Retrograde, my pink desktop computer bit the dust. It was a shame, especially because I had just gotten comfortable using Audacity to edit FemmeCast, and also I have all of my backlog of podcast recordings on there.

This is me and Taueret, my new Ferocity Correspondent. We're doing a stretch she taught me that she learned on the Equality Ride.
